My name is Mrs. Jodie Alford, and this is my 17th year teaching school. My husband is a helicopter engineer, and I have two daughters (8th grade & 11th grade). I also have a cute Jack Russell named Buddy Holly. I grew up on a large farm in Iowa, and I love animals. Last year my husband and I bought a little retirement farm in Iowa. I 
the Iowa Hawkeyes! I attended Wartburg College and the University of Nebraska. I have a Journalism and Education degree, and I have my Masters in Education. I am also a certified Dyslexia therapist.
I love to read, play the saxophone, travel, swim, cook, bake, walk my dog, read about and look at vintage decorating, spend time with my nieces and nephews, and I love to plant flowers. I lived three years in Nassau, Bahamas (I love the ocean). I love banana bread, cinnamon rolls, and Diet Dr. Pepper. My favorite show is Extraordinary Homes on Netflix. Sometimes I love to listen to all of Lionel Richie's songs, and other times I love to play songs on the saxophone from the Duke Ellington band. My current favorite saxophone song to play is "All Too Soon", and it was written in 1940 by Duke Ellington. I used to sing in weddings when I was 18 to 25 years old, but I'd much rather play the saxophone than stand up in front of a crowd and sing! I also love horses, so if you have a horse, I would love to hear about it. When I was your age, I was in 4-H, and I showed beef cattle at the local fair.
I really liked elementary school when I was a child, and I liked my teachers. I really liked the ones who made me work the hardest.
I it when students use really neat print or cursive (I can teach you cursive if you do not know it). I am excited for a new school year! We will have a different year because of the virus, but we will get through it together!
